Frequently Asked Questions

  • While contractors are skilled at building, they do not specialize in the planning and problem-solving aspects of design. Hiring an interior designer saves you time, money, and unnecessary stress by ensuring that every element of your renovation is carefully planned before construction begins.

    A designer helps:

    • Optimize your space: They create layouts that improve functionality, flow, and aesthetics.

    • Select the right materials: Designers choose materials not just for their look but for their durability, performance, and suitability for your specific needs.

    • Avoid costly mistakes: Thoughtful planning prevents expensive change orders and delays during construction.

    • Maximize your investment: A well-designed renovation increases the value of your home and enhances your everyday living experience.

  • When you hire a contractor and a designer separately, there can often be tension between their goals. A contractor may prioritize cost-cutting and efficiency, while a designer often times focuses on aesthetics and functionality without regard for your project budget, simply because they don’t know with accuracy how much things are going to cost. This can lead to miscommunications, unexpected costs, and timeline delays.

With a Design & Build model, the designer and contractor work as a collaborative team, ensuring that your vision, budget, and timeline remain aligned throughout the process. When designer and contractor are on the same team, they’re incentivized to find the best solutions for your project, balancing cost, function, and aesthetics seamlessly.
